Rainbow Screen of Death

I added a second SV-1000 to my panel and when I fired it up for the first time it only showed numerous colors of lines on the screen. I turned it off and on again and it was the same thing. I called Dynon and they told me that it must have been a bad screen and as expected they replaced it no questions asked.

Great new screen arrived and it fired up fine and worked great for a number of days in my garage (have not flown yet).. so I am happy.

Then one day I turned on the system and this new screen initialized with the Rainbow Screen of Death (again) and then initialized after a few seconds just fine.

No problems since... so the questions I have are what is going on with this new installation? The original screen is working great but the new screen is now working good but I am worried that it may act up again.

Anyone else have this problem?

Is it possible it's a loose connector or a loose pin? Try "installing" the unit all over again and see if it helps.

Thanks. I should have mentioned in my original post that the first new screen was installed in the left side and the old faithful screen was in the right side. When the first new screen experienced "Rainbow Death" I put old faithful in the left side and the replacement screen was placed in the right side so I have swapped them left to right and the problem did not follow.

The new-est screen was great for about 20 power on/off cycles and then only the one time it "Rainbowed out" for just long enough for me to use a word that sounds like "hit" and then it initialized fine and has been working as advertised for about 10 cycles.

If I had not previously experienced a Rainbow Screen of Death I would not have thought much about seeing the colored lines because it was just a two second flash and I would have thought that it was a normal boot up "feature".

Any other Rainbow Flashers out there?

Momentary lines like that are not a defect - they'll appear sometimes as the LCD is starting up and transitioning modes. But if they're persisting - in other words preventing a full power up or otherwise remain on the display - that's different and something we'd consider abnormal.
