Re-AP
Hi We have EFIS D100 & EMS D120 & AP74 with roll and pitch servos linked to 196 Garmin GPS , 2 Icom A200 radios with aerials in each wing tip (RV/7) intercom is through No,2 Radio which aerial coaxial cable runs to the right hand side wing tip with the roll servo wirring (twisted pair for DSAB) you can talk on the intercom no problems but soon as you transmitt on Radio No,2 you get DSAB warning all lights flash on AP/74 and then warning on EFIS can not be cancelled but AP is still working NAV & ALT mode to remove the warning you have to shut the EFIS down and reboot and all is fine untill you transmit on that radio again all works fine when transmitting on No,1 radio which has aerial on the left side .

What's the text of the warning that you're seeing that won't go away?

Also, so the antenna wires run right next to the DSAB wiring to the servos?

Do the warnings only occur when the AP is engaged, or does it happen ANY time you tx?

The warning is DSAB config AP/74 that will not go away
Yes the aerial wire and DSAB run together
No have not tried with the AP disengaged we have been turning off the AP to use No2 radio it would appear there is interference from the aerial when transmitting how far away should the DSAB wires be from the Aerial.

What kind of wire (size) are you currently running the DSAB wires on? It might take some shielding, even beyond the twisting, to prevent the interference. Getting some distance could help too, but precise guidance is really hard to give. Get them separated by as far as you reasonably can, basically.

Does the wire from Stein Air have the twisted pairs suitable for DSAB or do I need to plan to make this myself?

they are twisted together loosely but not shielded as they come out of the box (shielding isn't usually necessary except in rare cases.

Hi,
Well we are back from a trip around Aust and have moved the aerial cable away from the DSAB wires running to the roll servo and everthing works fine now when you transmit on that radio ,I have moved the cable about a foot away from the DSAB wires.
The auto pilot worked fine in the NAV & ALT mode height never varied any more than 10 Feet but it would lose the GPS source every now and then (Garmin196) but most times it was just a press of the Nav button and it re-engaged straight away .

The GPS dropouts are something we're looking into improving in a future firmware release (no timeframe on that at the moment with most dev resources currently going into the SkyView system)

One would think that Dynon would really want to make the current AP customers happy as soon as possible and this bug is a big one that is affecting most if not all of them.

A smokin Skyview system won't be worth squat if the market base does not believe in the Dynon brand.

Take the hints from your customer base and focus a little more energy on the AP.....

Stop the secret code and come clean, is there anyone currently working on the AP bugs or is it going to be a long time before any fixes are made?

Why don't you fix these problems and have the last thing you sold work before starting a whole set of new problems , its been long
enough of disreguard of the dropping of the nav side without a fix
your loosing customers with this attitude and lack of interest in the
customers that got you here in the 1st place.

Amen, Amen, Amen,

Why is it so difficult for Dynon to understand this?

We do not want you to fail but your cutting a hole in your own boat!  For goodness sake, listen to your customer base!

It's busy around here :)

Seriously, we do try to respond to posts here within a few days. When we're thinking through sensitive issues like this one, we tend to go and think things through and make sure we've all on the same page, instead of quickly reacting to every post (there are a few of us that post here). Anyway, there's a similar thread on AP issues here that we've posted a larger response to.

Brantel/Brad/Godspeed - Despite your current frustrations, I hope you do realize that we do value ALL of our customers. We know that given the current state of all or our projects that we can't make everyone happy simultaneously. Look at it this way - if we swung hard one way and ONLY dealt with current gen issues, we'd fall too far behind on the competitive front, and could have real impact to the business (just to be clear, we're doing fine - we're hiring a person or two in fact). On the other hand, if all we did was constantly rev our products with new models - to the exclusion of fixing outstanding issues - we'd end up like, well, some folks who aren't around anymore. Right now we're making a development push on the SkyView system, but we will continue to deliver bug-fixes and AP performance improvements to the current gen products.
