To use the flight director at all you must have a servo from Dynon, and the crosshairs are part of the flight director.

Ah, I think I see the miscommunication/understanding here. The yellow v-bars/batwings present in a non-autopilot aircraft are Dynon's version of an airplane shape in a standard artificial horizon, and are fixed in place on the axis of the aircraft. They will not move in response to heading or altitude bug changes unless the autopilot is enabled by purchasing and plugging in an autopilot servo, and cannot be changed. Correct?

Thanks for the explanation. It's a good thing we cleared it up, because we have a solution for you.

The FD is only available with a Dynon servo. However, the underlying change to the horizon pointer (which is what we call the "batwings") will work without a servo. The issue is the menu is blocked because you don't have a servo. Nobody ever asked to change this before, so it wasn't an issue. We didn't block anyone without an AP from making this change on purpose, it was just a coincidence.

If you prefer the horizon reference associated with our dual cue flight director, you can load the attached file titled "dual cue". Load "single cue" to go back. This is a way around not being able to go in the menu and change it.

Note there are no "crosshairs" - the cross hairs are the flight director command bars.

EXCELLENT! Thanks for all the help. I've flown both dual and single cue, prefer dual cue if I have the choice.

Not the first time (or will be the last time) phraseology has caused a problem between well meaning people. :cheers:

OK, made the change today and it looks great, many thanks for making that available.

As Peter Falk used to say, "Just one more thing, sir." At work I like to hand fly, and find the flight director command bars invaluable when I'm doing so. I realize that they're part of the autopilot system, but is there any way to enable the FD bars in a non-autopilot aircraft to follow the heading bug and altimeter setting?

Bummer, but I understand you have to make choices. Put me down as a vote in favor of it if you change your mind. (I remember when Dynon said they'd never put an analog instrument/six-pack option in the system, so there's always hope.    )
