Today when I went for a quick fly the map screen went black with a red cross for a few seconds the map went back to normal and then when I was coming in to land the all 3 screens went blank with red crosses for a few seconds it came back ok for a few seconds then went blank again for a few seconds then came back normal and stayed ok
I also got attitude or altitude recovery message up when it first came back on
any ideas

What hardware are you using for your GPS receiver? Is it our SV-GPS-250 receiver or some other device? If so, what is it? How many displays are in the aircraft? What kind of aircraft and powerplant? Did anything change with power application? Or was it seemingly random?

I am using the sv gps 250 one display
Its in an RV12 with a rotax The skyview installation is not the standard Vans install I installed it before Vans offered it I have flown over 300 hours with no problems It was just a random fault with the map going out first with a red cross and then it came good and then about 5 minutes later I lost the engine, flight instruments and map screen for a few seconds

That kind of failure is either the power line to the GPS getting shorted for only a moment, or is an internal failure in the SkyView. I would look at your wiring to the GPS carefully.

Thank you I pulled the cowlings off and checked the wires leading to the GPS aerial and found that one of them had been rubbing on the throttle cable which had been causing an intermittent short all fixed now
