Reminders?

I might have missed it in the various manuals, but does SV offer "Reminders" that can be programmed into the "Warnings" function (or some other function or page) to automatically remind the user of upcoming Oil Changes, etc? For example, "Oil Change Due at 350 hours Hobbs"?

There's currently no such feature in SkyView, but we're always interested to hear ideas on how SkyView could make your life as a pilot easier.

How would you like such a feature to work - pop up a caution banner? Would you want it to pop up until cleared? Just at startup? Etc. Reset it by going into the SETUP menu?

I think a pop-up NOTICE or ADVISORY banner ("Oil Change Due at ___ hours HOBBS") at start-up within 5 hours of the change due time that subsequently goes away after pilot acknowledgment until next start-up would work for me. Re-set hours (lead time and absolute time) by going through Set-Up menu. Maybe somethng similar to the notice we get when our Sectional chart data is due? Maybe put it on the ENGINE button page?

Luvn' my SV!

Setup as a reminder after X hours, but also have it as a timer, like hobbs, that can be reset via Setup like data logs.
I am more interested in how many hours are on the oil versus when its due. I figure 3 months as I never reach the magic 25 hours, and the deal is 3(4) months OR hours, depending on oil filter etc..
Setting a reminder for hours to change oil needs to also reflect time and/or hours to really serve a benefit.

also beside engine service there can be a reminder to scheduled airframe checks. that are due in flight time.

and also the yearly check and service. (if you don't fly so many hours but u still need to do maintanance)

there could also be a few years reminders for parts with limited life time for example changing ELT battery, checking BRS parachute, changing all rubber parts after 5 year period. it would probably be easiest to make user define name and period for reminders.

this is a neat feature that many already enjoy in their cars.

the notification should be similar to what it is for aviation data expiry. only that it would be shown on pfd or engine page. and would be have to accepted with button press to disappear till next flight.

I like the suggestion. I'd also like to be able to completely shut it off if desired.
One thing to think about is the discussion it might generate by passengers not aware of aviation issues if it pops up. There are things that are legal and even OK that might cause unwarranted concern by ignorant observers who see a warning. Oil change time is one. ELSA or E-AB operations might have different ramifications than standard or SLSA.
Having said that, I'm quite interested and would certainly use such a feature.
