The "black box" log and the user data logs are in the same format so any software that uses one can use the other. The black box is just the last 15 minutes at a full 16Hz, no matter how the main datalogs are set up.

I have installed Dotnet4 but cannot see if W 3.1 installer is installed. I think it is from memory. The parser opens, but nothing happens when I click on the Import Dynon file button. Any advice?

Not sure why the parser isn't importing the file. A couple of things you can check.

Under the Edit -> Options menu make sure the Create Google Earth KML file is checked. The KML file is created in the same directory with the same file name with an extension of KML. Just double click that file to open it in Google Earth.

Don't check the Record TAXI path in KML file as the black box data may not have a taxi to start and it will cause an error.

You can also change the airspeed at which the program determines when the aircraft is airborne so that it will show more of the flight path.

I checked a Black Box data file here and it shows a flight. It shows the final 30 minutes of the flight?

If all fails send me a Black Box file and I'll try and create a KML file for you.

Murry, I consider myself "fairly tech savey" but I can't get that thing to do right. It outputs a file for me but will not open in Google earth. :'(

Very exciting feature and effort.
Im in the same situation as weasel unfortunately.
The fields for "open flight lpg" do not line up correctly, date shows duration, to and from have a single digit, the LAT/Long are under Distance and Max speed.
When I attempt to save the Dynon log- single line, that appears to align correctly, but no .kml file anywhere.

Can you guys send me a log file or even a partial one. As long as it has all the columns. I'll check it against the files I have been using. There must be something in the data that I'm not handling properly.

Send the files to m.marien at digitalmapping dot sk dot ca

Put User Flight log in the subject line.

Re: Request for "Log Flight" option-success

Good news! I tried this on a different computer and found that it saves the .kml to my USB, so I have that working now successfully.
Very nicely done! thank you for taking time to create this [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I just noticed that some may be trying to use Open Flight Log under the file menu. Use the Import Dynon Log to import the USER LOG or the BLACK BOX file. This will read the USER LOG file and create a summary of the flights in the file. That summary can be saved and opened. The Dynon USER LOG always has to be imported.

Also under Edit>Options select Create Google Earth KML file if it isn't already selected. Once set, the Options will remain as selected until changed.

I'll try and clear up the confusing menu in the next release.

This is great software!
How do you do the touring?  I installed the touring version after the original.  I assume it overwrote the original?  How do I try out the touring feature?

I'm with n456ts - it's really fun looking at my tracks on Google Earth but don't see how to "fly" them. I get a KML file but it just seems to be a static one, not a Tour. Am I doing something wrong?

The applications were over writing each others install program. I separated the two applications.

Flight Log Application

Flight Tour Application

The apps will also overwrite the KML file created with the other app with the same log file so you may want to manually rename the KML file that is created before you use the other app.

Glad that you enjoyed the apps. Have fun.
