Can anyone advise if this sensor is compatible with the DEK-D180 and if so should it be wired in the same manner as Rotax oil pressure sensor 956413. The DEK-180 manual doesn't have any reference to this newer sensor.

chrisO:

Our information is that Rotax P/N 456180 is electrically equivalent to Rotax P/N 956413 so connect it to the FlightDEK-D180 per your manual. The newer sensor has a connector, and the pinout diagram is in our SkyView System Installation Manual, Page 7-41.

Can anyone advise if this sensor is compatible with the DEK-D180 and if so should it be wired in the same manner as Rotax oil pressure sensor 956413.  The DEK-180 manual doesn't have any reference to this newer sensor.

I have a Flight Dek D180 in a new installation with a Rotax 912ULS. While hand cranking the engine before initial engine start I do not get a oil pressure reading. I do get oil pumping through the engine and collected .5 litre after approx 60 revolutions. I have 12V at the sensor and the harness was purchased from Aircraft Spruce. The D180 is setup for sensor type 4 (p/n956413) although I have the new pn456180. You say the two sensors are equivalent and should be connected to the D180 per the manual. I am using Flight DekD180 Installation Guide P/N 100600-000 Revision H from August 2010. Is this the correct manual to be using? I purchased the D180 fall of 2013. Any thoughts why I can't get a pressure reading? Thanks for your help.

The version of the manual you are using this the most recent version published. It sounds like you have it configured correctly on the FlightDEK-D180. Did you install the 200 ohm resistor as specified in the diagram near the bottom of page 3-6?

I am wiring the Rotax Oil Pressure sensor P/N 456180. In viewing the pinout diagram on page 7-37 (Skyview System Installation Guide - Revision P) it is not clear whether the given view is from the front (i.e., mating surface) of the plug or from the back side (where the pins and wires slide in from) is shown in the diagram. Can someone please advise so I don't wire the thing backwards.
Thanks!

I can see how that's confusing. In that picture, you're staring at the actual sensor's connector. See also http://www.flyrotax.com/portaldata/5/dokus/d05265.pdf , page 33, for another reference.
