I'm am about finished with the "finish kit" and will be ordering my avionics package soon. I would really like to have a second 10" screen; however, Van's is concerned about the lack of sufficient electrical power from the Rotax. Any news regarding this.....

Thanks...Ric

We have an RV-12 in the UK with dual 10" SkyView screens. In the UK we can stray from the standard build when it comes to instruments and avionics.

It all works fine with the 20A Rotax integral alternator in our experience (100 hrs). I did a very careful 'Apollo 13' power consumption spreadsheet before committing. In reality it will go to 18A on throttle opening (acts a bit dynamo like) but settles down to 10-11A in the cruise.

Van's were concerned that if someone was heavily using the power outlet to charge an iPad etc then it might be all too much.

We have an SL30, autopilot, lights, transponder etc.

Shout if you need further info.

We're working with Vans on this, actually. They've made some changes to the electrical system on the RV-12, and there are some things on our end that address their previous power consumption concerns (I'll spare the technical details for now). In short, we hope that they'll have "official" support for SkyView RV-12 dual screen installations: our power consumption on a dual screen SkyView system is about the same as our competition, for what it's worth.

Outstanding...will see you guys @ Sunriver in June....as I'm building e-lsa, I need Van's blessing. Don't want to deal with the 800 bl gorilla ( you know who I mean).

The CTLS has dual Skyview on a standard ROTAX 912ULS plus has more other electrical loads than the RV12 - like electric flaps, if I remember correctly. The second screen would be easy to add  after completion. I'm considering it.

Also I would LOVE ALL of the technical details! Lay them on us!
