RV-12 Upgrade to Skyview

I am a month or two away from ordering the avionics kit for the RV-12 and I'm hoping the Skyview will be ready or at least Van's will have a schedule of when it will be ready.
If I do order the current kit with the D-180 and choose to upgrade the system at a later time does anyone have any information on the difficulty of this?
It appears you would have to add an AHRS/Mag box. How much more of a current draw is the Skyview screen over the D-180. The current fuse for the EFIS (D-180) is a 3 amp fuse.

Thanks for any advice.

I have been flying with the Skyview since spring. How do you mean ready?

I don't believe there is an upgrade path from the D180 to the Skyview. Everything is different including the size of the hole in the panel. I do believe the engine sensor cable is the same. You might want to do some investigation.

The recomended breaker/fuse for SV is 5A - page 4-7 of the installation manual.

OK, so any announcement on a SkyView offering for the RV-12 ELSA will come from Vans. Their aircraft; their avionics kits; their message. So the if/when part of your question should be directed their way (this isn't a "not my problem" answer - Dynon and Vans have actually agreed that this is Van's question to answer)

The SkyView installation guides (available in the website documentation area) have all of the broad current draw information in them. That said, with the Rotax power plant, there's only so much power to be had, so there's some engineering work to do here to be able to fully answer this question. Again, expect these answers to come from Vans.
