RV-8 pitch servo installation?

I am installing the pitch servo mounting hardware in my RV-8 QB fuselage.  In my first trail fitting, I find that the head of the forward servo mounting bolt interferes with two of the rivet heads of the elevator bellcrank.  There is a picture at http://picasaweb.google.com/JohnnyG...hkey=Gv1sRgCNntrpnmv_yyOQ#5517511444166985218.

I propose to resolve this by changing the two interfering rivets to countersunk rivets, and shifting one washer from the right side of the bellcrank to the left to shift it to the right by about 1/16".

Have others had this same problem, and if so, how have they resolve it?

Thanks,       John

YEP!!

And CSK rivets is the way to solve it.

Others may have similar experiences and different solutions but the one RV8 install I helped with we found the same thing.

I had the same issue and replaced the universal with counter sunk rivets and used one extra washer on the servo side and there is plenty of clearance now.

Before I can install my Dynon autopilot in my UK RV-8 I have to wrote a modification proposal for approval (UK aircraft are not "experimental" so if we add something that is not in the Vans drawings we need approval).

Please can Support tell me what specification of material the pitch servo brackets are made from (100874-001) as I have produce stress calculations!  Scary.
