Screen flicker worsens

v3.1 didn't stop the split second occasional flickering of both 7" screens.

Now I also momentarily will lose the NAVSRC pointer for perhaps 2 seconds.

I found that my screen starts to flicker when the battery voltage starts to get low...even with a backup battery connected. As soon as I charge the battery, or disconnect the main battery and run only off a charged backup, the flicker seems to goes away. Could be a common, though very minor, issue for those of us still garage flying.

...just don't run the unit directly off a charger (just in case you didn't see that yourself in the manual).

Grateful if you'd refer me to the location in the manual that speaks to not running on a battery charger.

There is nothing in the Pilots' Guide or Installation Manual that says to not run on a battery charger.

The installation guide does say "To conserve your aircraft battery, the
SV[ch8208]BAT[ch8208]320 is only charged with SkyView detects your alternator/generator to be online."

My Skyview backup batteries charge whenever the screen power is on and the aircraft is plugged into a battery charger.

What I think they mean is anything that is a charger eg Alternator OR external via ships battery.

The key is if you hook it up to a battery charger, the aircraft battery MUST also be connected (since the charger needs that load inline). Otherwise you can cook your avionics (all of them, not just SkyView).

If you want to "bench fly" outside of the aircraft and you don't have an aircraft battery handy, use a regulated power supply.

The simple rule is that we won't charge until our input gets to at least 12.25V, which won't happen unless your alternator is on-line or you have a battery charger hooked up.
