I have dual Dynon screens. One screen layout I would find useful would be the PFD screen across the entire width, with a small band along the bottom for the EMS screen at say 20%.

I must admit I like the AFS screen capability to have the EMS superimposed across the bottom of the PFD screen.
I too would also like the highway in the sky for IFR approach flying. In watching the demo video, AFS has some nice ideas. (A Dynon owned company) Thank you for great products and support.

More flexibility on screen layout and font sizes is a common request.  I struggle with the legibility of my 7 inch sv screen. I find that a 40% map on my 10 inch screen is more legible than a full screen map on the 7 inch, due to the font size.

Putting engine info along the bottom or on 5 % side strips would be very useful and has been discussed extensively. My experience is that when Dynon agrees with a suggestion, they say nothing for competitive reasons.  So, silence is encouraging!

I have prototyped a new type of engine instrument display that simplifies the representation of critical engine parameters.  I will eventually retrofit this to my Rocket for flight testing and proof of concept.  However,  it could all be implemented in software on a SkyView screen.  Right now, I 'm trying to determine if I should put it into the public domain or turn it into a commercial opportunity.  Perhaps just licensing it out is a good compromise.

I wish that I had an open-source EFIS platform for this.  There are a few projects underway, but none of them are credible.  All of this futzing around because I don't like the EMS display on the SkyView!

If Dynon has been listening to suggestions, it will unveil a much improved method of displaying engine info at Oshkosh 2015 and I can fade quietly away.  Otherwise, the 7 inch SV screen is coming out of my Rocket and my proto EMS display is going in.

So, an opportunity and a threat!  I'm betting on Dynon winning this one.

Vern,

Although YMMV my experience with the AFS engine monitor across the bottom is that it's not "transparent enough" and still takes away from the map real estate.

Perhaps you already know this: one of your MakerPlane associates has been helping us with a Bluetooth serial adapter for our project.

My friend, partner, and fellow RV-er Peter Seferovic and I have been working on what we call SkyView Assist.  It displays engine parameters on an Android tablet and offloads Skyview so the map screen can be increased to 50%, a worthwhile increase.

Below are a couple of screenshots of two different prototypes of SVA on my 7-inch tablet.

There's still a lot of work to do but I could send you an APK file as soon as it's in a "good place".  Just let me know.

Great idea!
What say you, Dynon?
