Seattle Avionics Data

Could be and usually would in these situations, but I had heard that Dynon subsidizes Seattle Avionics to get the data at $99.

Don't know details, but was under impression Dynon had some form of contract with Seattle Avionics to supply the data at that price.
Those of us with lifetime contracts may or may not have an issue. IIRC mine says subscription expires somewhere around 2100.
 
Not long ago a poster was asking them about when their next "lifetime subscription" offering would be held, and Steve Podradchick said "That won't be happening again." Now we know why. Glad I got mine when I did...
 
In Seattle Blog it says " Lifetime subscribers to FlyQ EFB will continue to enjoy great value from the ongoing use of our current products. Lifetime subscribers are our most valuable champions and going forward we will keep that in mind as we develop roadmaps for future products and features." "Current Products" being the key word. I would suspect that future program updates / features will require a "Buy-in" to enjoy. My opinion only.

Remember Seattle Avionics Voyager software for the PC, pre iPad? I had a lifetime subscription and used in on a small PC in my plane. I liked it. Guess what happened. That lifetime subscription is useless on current apps.

Yep, I remember it. Bought it as soon as it was available and I had technical problems immediately. Was told that my two year old desktop was too old to run it reliably. A few years later, after I had dropped the data subscription, they came out with an update that fixed quite a few bugs, but I couldn't download it (without a subscription). It was a terrible, expensive piece of software that had lots of great features, if only it had worked reliably.
