I have a D100 in my plane, and I want to add a D10 for use as a backup gyro and as an HSI head . I'm installing a garmin 430W, and the plane already has NARCO nav/com.

1) Is it possible to hook up an HS 34 and simultaneously display on the HSI page information from the garmin on the D100 and information from the NARCO on the D10?

2) The documentation implies that the HS 34 is not required to display data from the garmin on the HSI page, but that there will not be full functionality. Without an HS34, a) how do I connect the Garmin to the EFIS, b) what functionality remains, and c) what functionality is lost?

1) So unfortunately, the the Narco can't be connected to the D100 at all. Essentially, the analog connectivity of the HS34 doesn't work with any radios except the SL30 and 430, which don't need that connectivity.

2) 430 serial tx gets connected to an EFIS serial rx. You'll see GPS-based HSI info only, and the needle won't do any of the fancy auto-scaling as you fly an approach as you'd see if you had it hooked up via the HS34. With the HS34, you'll be able to receive the NAV radio side of the 430 as well.
