Serial GPS input in D10A - GPS mouse suggestion?

Hi,

I have a D10A with both servos and an AP74 in my Vans RV-3A and all operates fine.

However not having any GPS connected I would like to use a serial GPS input into the D10A from a ´GPS mouse´ or a ´cheap RS-232 GPS antenna´ as I did on the TruTrak Digiflight to be able to fly a Ground Track again vs. the Heading only; hope that makes sense.

Any suggestion what device would work?

Thanks, Heinz

We should be able to use the same one you used for your TruTrak, so that's a place to start if you still have it.

Thanks - the unit went with the plane however am I right that basically any RS-232 (RS-232 NMEA 0183) unit will do?

It needs to have certain sentences present. See the NMEA format section of

Thanks for this. What I am thinking of is an Evermore Marine GPS Receiver SA-320 GPS Receiver to use the TRK mode only.

The unit gives these data: RS232 RX+ or RS232 TX- and it worked with the TruTrack device.

Any guess that will work?

Per http://www.emt.com.tw/webPage/product_view.php?product_type=3&product_id=22&series_name=Marine&series_id=6, it looks like that puck doesn't output the RMB sentence, so, per the list in the above wiki, it may not work. If you have one handy, wouldn't hurt to hook on up to make sure though. The device might output more than its documentation says it does.
