Shut-down error

All,

I have two SV-1000 screens with back-up battery on each screen. Recently, when powering off the panel (still in my shop) the screen gives the usual "Aircraft power lost - powering down in 30 seconds", and then it begins the count-down. However, now it gets to only 28 or so in that count-down before re-issuing the "Aircraft power lost", and starting the count-down all over. Thus, it will not shut off without me holding button 1...

Currently running 3.1.1

Any suggestions?

DS have fixed some 'issues' with backup batteries in the latest software - I'm sure they'll encourage you to do the update first before worrying yourself too much over this.

I recently (with 3.1.1) had the same issues you're describing and tried many combinations of dual screen/batteries but found the most stable setup was with one particular screen and battery - a bit pointless now as the new software fixed it all.

The reason the timer would get canceled like that is airspeed or ground speed. The SkyView won't power off if it thinks you're in flight. Is your system showing airspeed or groundspeed?

Thanks. I think you've got it right.

With the project in the basement, I get sporadic (at best) GPS signal. Most of the time it shows that there is no signal. In general, the system seems to be "bouncing around" in airspeed every few seconds... It shows airspeed as --- with the artificial horizon near level. Then it gets a "glitch" of about 18-20 knots, shows a nose pitch-up and then goes back to --- with the artificial horizon slowly drifting back towards level flight, until the next "glitch"...

Why would the ADAHRS be getting these sporadic airspeed indications? I'm assuming this comes from the pitot/static system and is not GPS based data, since there is no signal.

Thanks for any help.

Is your pitot or static system capped off? I had my pitot system capped off to keep debris out of the tube and the trapped pressure was causing a non-zero airspeed reading. This also had the unfortunate side effect of running my map trial period down a few hours before I noticed it and removed the cap.

Jason,
We can reset that trial period for you (once). Contact us before your first flight and we can get you a code to reset it.
