G'day I have a Skyview 10" which I bought late last year. I have installed it into my project and it seems to be stuck in simulator mode. It recognizes the ems and adarh but on the screen the thing is flying and engine running. Is there any way I can disable this. Thanks Gundy

That self-propelled demo mode needs to be specifically loaded, and is only intended for use in demonstration panels and non-flying exhibits, so we're interested in learning more (and getting you straightened out). It's also possible (but not probable) that your actual display is not a normal "airworthy" display, depending on the path it took to get to you.

Please give us a call at 425-402-0433 at your earliest convenience so we can help you sort it all out. Note the serial number of the display, as well as any other unusual markings or stickers that might be on it.

Shame we can't all have an option to download a "simulator" file that would allow most to sit in a grounded aircraft and practice learning the system before ever taking off.
Something like Garmin does with their 430 GPS.
Hard to do?
Thx

@Gundy,

It may be that your Skyview system is configured with your connected devices (i.e. EMS or AHRS) as
portsel_xxxx=INSTR_PORT_SIMULATOR
instead of
portsel_xxxx=INSTR_PORT_REMOTE

where xxxx is ahrs, ems, etc.

The former in your global settings file will  that the SV display uses simulated (preset) values in place of the 'real' readings from your SV-connected devices. Even if the lights on those devices are flashing away nicely and the SV display detects them properly etc.

Took me ages to work that out, but got it all working last night after months of measurement, rewiring/ debugging, and scratching my head!

Would anyone from dynon care to tell me what prompted that behaviour and SV display setting?!? ;)

thanks!

We did have a few displays (less than 10, we think) that got out of here in demo mode accidentally earlier this year. If your unit boos up in this mode, we can send you a file to fix it. This is not normal behavior for a unit shipped from us, and you shouldn't need to edit files to make it work.
