Hi

Since the new update to 17.3 I receive more unnecessary files when downloading the user data log and upload it to savvy analysis. Now I get a second user data log file that contains the relevant data. But also more “events“ that I need to delete on Savvy which are not flights but some data from o the ground probably…

Is there a setting that could change that?

thanks
Fabian

I get exactly three files when downloading user data:
  • ALERT_DATA.csv
  • BLACK_BOX_LOG_DATA.csv
  • USER_LOG_DATA.csv
This hasn't changed for the last 2 years since I've owned the airplane and even when I had the Classic Skyview displays. Can you be more specific?

I occasionally get a second user log but I just download both to savvy and all seems to work ok. This has happened for years now and I don’t think it’s anything new. I usually find if I have not downloaded a file for a while a second one appears. You are going to get an event every time you turn on the screen power but I don’t know of any way to control whether to log it or not.

Same here...it's basically some sort of file size limitation. I never bothered to figure out what he max logfile size is before it creates a second one, I just load them both and Savvy processes them just fine.

I recently upgraded to version 17.3 but haven't flown yet due to "meh" weather. Last year, after upgrading versions, I saw two sets of logs for a while: one for the current version and another for old flights recorded on the previous release. This continued until the circular log overwrote the older flights. You can probably clean the data logs in SkyView to start fresh.

Indeed you can, although it's not entirely intuitive. It is, however, described in Appendix F of the Installation Manual.

Thanks all for the reply!

maybe I try this to clear the data log (although I do it anyway from time to time) and it just coincidentally was full when I upgraded the firmware.

however to give you more details, here two screenshots from the last download:

and these are the empty logs in Savvy that I get…

Those aren't empty *logs*, those are empty "flights"...times when you powered the system up, likely to check something on board the aircraft, then shut the power off shortly thereafter. SV doesn't know your intentions, so it starts collecting data. Savvy then parses things into separate flights. In these cases, it doesn't know enought about the "flight" to label it with departure/arrival airports.

Don't worry. It's perfectly normal. Just tell Savvy to ignore those little "flights".

Yes that was my understanding too, but I never powered the system up between flights that day. I made 4 flight on october 18th but shut everything down in between…

Most of mine are short taxis between my hangar and the fuel pump before or after a flight.

Well, let Savvy keep them, then go look at them and see what's in there. Look at the Flight Map to see where you were.

Out of interest I downloaded the logs yesterday and there were four user data logs. It had been a couple of months since I last did it. When I downloaded to Savvy there were numerous short 4 or 5 minute entries but they all coincided with turning screen power on for some reason or other I.e before a flight or while in the hanger checking something.
