Skyview 5.1 pgrade

At issue - loss of traffic alert "No Traffic" Icon on map page following upgrade to 5.1.
I recently upgraded my two Skyview D700 to Version 5.1 and I loss my traffic alert. I do not have a ADS-B module.  It was a difficult upgrade where I had to upgrade both D700s separately and force a network synchronization. I remember a ADB-S question, that I thought I answered correctly.

Troubleshooting done to date
* Upgraded to 6.0 did not solve th problem
* Verified with local ATC that my transponder was working
* Make sure all the connections were properly seated
* A search of the forum turned up no similar threads

I am at a loss as to what maybe the problem

My setup is
* Dual homed Skyview D700s
* Garmin 696 (GPS source)
* SV-XPNDR-26X
* SV-ADAHRS-20X

What Xponder GPS input setting did you have before this? It looks like you have 2 issues.

1- You need to connect the G696 to the transponder. It doesn't look like it is.
2- You need to change the GPS data in from "Garmin ADSB" to "Aviation" and verify your G696 is set to "Aviation" out. This same issue bit me too a while back.

Your GPS source should not be DIRECT, it should be SKYVIEW. There's no point in hooking the 696 direct to the GPS since it isn't certified and just confuses things. If you use SKYVIEW, as long as the map on SkyView is working, your transponder will.

Also, scroll down and make sure you don't have TIS turned off.

Also, make sure in your serial port setup you don't have any other transponders, traffic devices, or ADS-B configured.

The Dynon Support configuration got rid of the traffic inop warning and a call to tech support walked me thru the pages to verify that the Dynon transponder SW was correct and that it was receiving data from both the transponder and Garmin 696 (see below screenshots). My problem is that ATC is telling me that they are not receiving my Mode C and I still do not get traffic alerts displayed on my Dynon map screen, like I did with Ver 5.1. Given that I fly in the Washington DC SFRA, operating Mode C is a must to fly, even VFR. So help please.

If your transponder says at the top of SkyView that it is in ALT mode, and ATC says they can't see you, you need to get a transponder check done by a local shop. There is no software configuration that can have the system showing 1200 ALT at the top (or whatever code you have) and have the transponder be off. You don't need a good GPS connection to show mode C or Mode S. Any failures that will cause the transponder to not transmit will be shown at the top either as a red X or as the transponder being in GND or SBY mode.

So you have a bad transponder, bad antenna, bad RF cable, or something. There's really nothing else we can do here unless you want to send in your transponder to see if it is broken.

to closeout this thread. I had a local comm/nav A&P troubleshoot the transponder signal and measure it power output. It turns out that the SV-XPNDR-261 transponder is putting out only 2db of power out its BNC connection. The cable and antenna tested OK. According to the tech the signal strength should more in the 200 db range. I've got a call into the Dynon support group for how to return the unit for repair or replacement.
