Skyview and Trig Transponder

My plane has a stand alone Trig TT21 Transponder with the remote TC20 Controller. I have recently installed a Skyview HDX.
It would be nice to have the Skyview talk to and control the transponder.
Is this just a simple matter of disconnecting the TC20 remote controller and using a Dynon SV-XPNDR harness to connect the Trig TT21 transponder to a serial port on the Skyview? My understanding is that the Skyview XPNDR -261/262 and Trig TT2/22 are the same thing?

They are not exactly the same thing - The Dynon version of the Trig does not have the inbuilt encoder & there are other internal differences that preclude what you are trying to do. You could sell the Trig transponder & free up some panel space that way as well .
