For us folks in AK where Xm isn't an option, what plans are in place for getting weather in the Skyview? One I've heard of is Navworx. Is this an option now and/or are there others? Thanks.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an ADSB function on Skyview. It seems that everyone in the industry is "waiting" to see if the FAA changes nextgen or for someone to make a $500 receiver with generic output. Currently, if you've got an Ipad, you can get Skyradar for about $900 which is a simple receiver and works quite well. After flying with it, I dumped XM and sold my 496.

We plan to have WX shortly, though we don't have a firm timeframe yet. Compatibility with XM receivers is likely to happen, as is support for the FAA's ADS-B traffic/weather format (that most ADS-B devices output). We don't have any current plans to produce either of those classes of devices ourselves at the moment.

But basically, a Dynon transponder does ADS-B out. Then, with an ADS-B receiver (there's the NavWorx on the market now, with more products inevitably on the horizon over the next couple of years), you'll basically have the full ADS-B link for an affordable price.
