It's a bit tedious to sit and watch the Skyview one hour annual backup battery test. Like watching paint drying. When I get busy doing something else I don't think to check until long after the system has shut down. :-/

It would be nice to have a self test. Press the annual backup battery test button and the system will warn if the system is on ship's power or the backup battery isn't fully charged. If it passes those tests it can start a countdown and record the time it stays alive or easier yet, record a passed condition if it makes the one hour. So when I return from lunch and remember, it will have recorded if it has passed the annual battery condition test when I turn Skyview back on.

Pick a nice VFR day, and turn it off ships power while flying. I don't know about you but I don't need much of an excuse to go flying, and this gives you a real-world-conditions test just as you would have in a legitimate power-out scenario. Just make sure you are ready to dead-reckon your way back home as a backup plan in case it fails to come back online for any reason.
