Just wondering if SkyView will function with an external dim signal from a PWM dimmer...or if it actually needs a specific voltage input.

Thanks!

Caution. If you use the external control for the SV, it may not work properly when the SV is running on the battery backup. This is because if you have an electrical failure, the dimmer voltage will drop to near zero, and the SV screen will become very dim.

It's not fun to have the screen go dark if the main bus fails. There are settings to help this, but in the end, it's just easier to use the SV's internal dimmer control. Then, if the master bus fails in flight, you will still be able to see the screen. It will dim slightly when on the backup battery, but will still be fine.

This behavior is being changed in the next software release so it's not a big issue for new installs.

If my programming voodoo is up to snuff, my plan is to have 0V default to max brightness.

The dimmer knob has an on/off switch at the very bottom end of its range--I'd like to leave it off during the day, and have that command max panel brightness.

Hopefully...that means if the dimmer experiences a failure, it won't be a problem.

Any instructions or drawings available on installing the PWM?. Do you use P25 and earth the PWM or use both P25 and P26 ?.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I wish to control the Skyview dim function externally as described under "External Brightness Management".
I have a dual channel PWM, ideally, one for the Skyview (Radio and dual EFIS) and the other for cabin LCD lighting
