I am building an RV-6A. I installed a Skyview (10") system with EMS, AutoPilots, 1 ADAHRS, and ARINC-429. After installation I power the unit on for the first time yesterday and received 2 errors. ADAHRS Fail and Position Fail. For the ADAHRS Fail, I tried connecting it to the display using the test cable that came with the display, but I get the same fail.

I went into the Setup Menu and under Hardware Calibration noticed that it states that the EMS, AHRS, and SERVOS are not detected. I tried connecting the test cable from the display to the EMS. When the unit came back up, same fails and in the Hardware Calibration section, it still shows that the EMS and the other devices were NOT DETECTED.

Need help to get passed these issue and test as much as I can before I can continue my building process. Thank you.

You need to do the network configuration procedure that starts on page 4-8 of the install manual so that it can find your specific modules. It's just a few quick button presses.

Position fail means it's not getting any GPS data at all, so either you don't have one hooked up or you still have a configuration mismatch somewhere.

Network configuration procedure worked and now the dosplay detects all the modules. Question on the GPS. I have a GNS430W connected to the Dynon Skyview via the ARINC-429. At this point I am not getting a GPS lock and I am assuming it is because my RV-6A project is in my garage. But when I do get a signal, will that signal be fed to the Skyview? And will the Skyview use that signal for all Skyview functions?

One more question. I noticed that the fans on the Skyview Display did not turn on. Do they only turn on when needed? When the temperature of the display gets to a certain point?

Thank you....

The 430W antenna takes *forever* to get a lock inside of my garage (although it will eventually get one)...at one point, I rolled the plane down into the driveway to validate that it was actually even working (it was, and once it saw the sky, it "only* took 10 minutes or so to lock up, probably because it had to download the almanac from the spacecraft).

The Skyview GPS antenna, however, works like a champ, gets a lock within seconds even inside the garage. Do yourself a favor and get one and install it. I put both of my GPS antennae on a small shelf on the firewall, under the fiberglass cowling.

I consider the two systems backups to each other...if the 430 goes out, I still have GPS position via Skyview. If the Skyview goes out, I have it on the 430.

The fans only turn on when the unit gets particularly hot. For many people, this isn't very often. Technically, the heat sinks alone can keep the units within their spec'd temperature range under most circumstances. But in hot, desert heat-soaked airplanes, having the fans move some air back there really helps.

(Note, the fans do turn on for a few seconds when you power on. Then shut off if not needed.)
