Skyview, Garmin 496, Trutrak ADI II question

If I have my Garmin 496 data out wired to a Skyview serial port 3 RX, as well as having the Dynon GPS wire to Serial port 5, and then wire Skyview serial port 3 TX to the Trutrak ADI II autopilot, will the autopilot run off the 496 if I switch gps sources on the Skyview from POS 1 to GPS 1 (assuming they are set up in Skyview that way.)

I am wondering if it would be a good idea to have a panel switch to switch gps sources to the autopilot. If the Skyview were to go blank for some reason, would I not be able to use the autopilot if wired like I mention in the above paragraph?

SkyView's NMEA output is only generated for SkyView's own navigation software output. It does not aggregate output from other GPSes serial inputs. So if you want a non-Dynon autopilot to follow both SkyView's output and your Garmin's, you'd need to wire both unit's transmits into a switch that then selects which one makes it to the autopilot. Essentially, think of SkyView's NMEA output as wired directly to SkyView's map.

If the Dynon GPS in POS 1 goes offline for some reason, and I have the Garmin 496 GPS input as GPS 1, the Skyview will default to the 496 signal, correct?

I can switch NAVSRC in flight from GPS 0 to GSP 1. Will this be switching from Dynon GPS to the Garmin 496 GPS for navigational purposes with the Skyview, but not then drive the Trutack autopilot?

Yes. It will fail down through the POS and GPS sources for the SkyView's raw "position" source for the system.

On the map issue - let's put it this way: The NMEA output matches what's on the MAP page, not what's being shown on the HSI. So even if you're displaying the HSI from a 396, if you have a direct-to in the SkyView map, the SkyView's map shows its own pink line, not the one from the 396, and that's what's going out over NMEA. Similarly, if you have the 396 showing on the HSI, but don't have anything programmed into the SkyView's mapping software, NMEA will reflect the SkyView's lack of a destination
