so . . . as a 'certified' user . . . I can not update the ADSB to 2.4.58 since I can only have my HDX software at 16.4.6 at this time? If this is the case, how do I turn 'off' the TIS service?

There is a setting in one of the setup menus to turn off TIS traffic, that’s what I did, but can’t remember under which settings menu it’s located. Just look around and you’ll find it, or I’m sure someone who knows will chime in.

I believe what you are looking for is the Setup > Transponder Setup > TIS Traffic menu setting (see attached screenshot).

According to an FAA document from September 2022 TIS-b is not being phased out….

This action announces termination of the Mode–S Traffic Information Service (TIS) at 104 terminal Mode–S radar sites. The FAA is replacing these legacy terminal Mode–S radars via the Mode–S Beacon Replacement System (MSBRS) program, or may remove legacy terminal Mode–S radars as part of other ongoing activities. As each legacy terminal Mode–S Radar is replaced or removed, the FAA will no longer provide Mode–S TIS to capable transponders from that location. This change does not affect existing Traffic Information Service—Broadcast (TIS–B), Automatic Dependent Surveillance—Rebroadcast (ADS–R), or Automatic Dependent Surveillance—Same Link Rebroadcast (ADS–SLR) services currently provided to properly ADS–B equipped aircraft.
Important to note that we are talking about TIS which is being phased out, not TIS -B, which is a part of ADS-B

I have an HDX system with 3 displays and a ADSB-472 attached and running 16.6. It has been working feeding traffic and weather with the traffic dropping out as described by others on this thread. I was looking to update the firmware and found that the ADSB STATUS menu item does not appear on my SETTINGS menu. I know the install manual notes that it will not appear until you enable the serial port but that has been done. Anyone with thoughts on why the status menu is not appearing? Note that status does appear on the map screen.

Brought up the full setup menu while in flight. The status screen was available. After landing it was still available and I was able to update the ADSB-472 firmware. Not sure why the menu item was not available while in the hanger.

After updating to the latest release I seem to still have a problem with the ADSB targets as close as 2 miles vanishing from the display and re-appearing after some pause. I have not turned off TIS.

Is there a way to confirm that it's TIS interference and not some other problem, and that setting TIS to off will not disable TIS-B reception?

In the release notes Dynon seem to indicate that now ADSB will always take precedence over TIS, that's why i'm wondering if there may be another reason for dropping targets
