Skyview seeing itself as traffic.

My friend and I both have skyview, 10" screens in our RVs. I'm running version 14, no problems yet though I am in the older serial numbe range. He's having a minor problem. Skyview, keeps announcing traffic, and when you look at the screen, you'll see traffic right at your location and altitude. Then you realize it you. You'll be flying along for 10 minutes with no one near you and no traffic shown. Then "traffic" and its seeing itself again. Kind of disconcerting. We have his N number in the unit and the special hex number we had to look up. Mine doesn't do this at all, don't remember it doing it when I was running 13. Wondering if anyone has any ideas?

We need to know more about the systems. ADS-B IN? Dynon transponder? Where in the USA? What GPS source for ADS-B OUT? If on v14, what is your SIL setting for your GPS?

The FAA is changing how ADS-B traffic works, and it lined up with the release of v14. This behavior is now expected with some configurations, but v14 should be able to solve it for most.

Sorry, not enough info. So he has the Dynon transponder, with the dynon GPS 250, flying on Long Island NY, sil setting? He is on 13, so I will up him to 14.

The issue is that he's on firmware v13.x, so his transponder is sending out GPS at SIL/SDA=0, and thus the FAA isn't going to send him ADS-B traffic.

Yes, update him to v14.0.7.3621, and likely that issue will clear up.

What do you have your SIL setting set to? And did you update the transponder (it's a separate explicit step) when going to 14.0?

Updated transponder software and flew today, all is good.
