Does anyone here know....when connecting a ARINC capable panel GPS (Garmin 650) to the Skyview do you need a seperate serial wire to Skyview serial port in addition to the one required at the ARINC module?

I have the 650 talking to the skyview as GPS 1 through the ARINC module and when I put a flightplan in the Garmin 650 it shows the Bearing and distance on the skyview but not the waypoint.

Alternatively the Garmin AERA 560 (conected via serial to skyview) shows Bearing Distance and Waypoint.

I am thinking that maybe I have to connect the serial from the 650 to both the ARINC module and the Skyview screen?

No - the serial only needs be connected to the ARINC module in that case. It's filling in a gap in the ARINC data - altitude in particular, to make the ARINC source a "complete" GPS position and nav source that includes the 3d fix information that SkyView needs to use a GPS source as position.

Unfortunately, the waypoint ID doesn't come over ARINC in a way that we currently strip out (it's possible, but non-trivial). We do have plans to pluck the waypoint data out of the ARINC stream when we do it more comprehensively in the so-called flight plan "cross-fill" feature that would let SkyView pull over the whole flightplan for display on SkyView's map. So this should be improved in the future, though I can't tell you when since that feature isn't currently pegged to a release.

Ok. I will be looking forward to that release. It would be nice to see the waypoint on the skyview as confermation that the "to" destination is set properly.

Thanks for the reply.
