Interesting... @Dynon not sure how much customer input is really taken into account - but given that the certified version did not even get the 15.4.7, its a pretty crappy experience to hold up the existing customers that have one of the 600 models approved, and have us stuck behind the approval process for the Bonanza 36. You should service your existing customers who have already committed to the platform - and handle the B36 separately.
The problems faced by smaller companies compete with the big G is more complex than one would think. The bigger companies with longer track records have people dedecated to the FAA inspection process and FAA inspectors dedicated to their products. Occationally this creates huge issues like the Boeing 737Max where everyone assumes someone else is checking the process. For companies like Dynon, it means they are at a competitive disadvantage from a timeline perspective before they even start. The more of a track record they have, the bigger they get, the easier it becomes.I don't know anything about FAA requirements for certified instruments software, but if it's anything like medical devices, I can imagine there is extra paperwork/validation involved for certified installs.
However, Garmin seems to be able to move very quickly - their certified releases for G5 and G3X don't lag significantly behind their experimental versions, so I'm pretty sure Dynon is capable to solve this as well.
