Hi guys,

I am planing to install either Skyview or Garmin on my RANS S19. Personally I prefer put 2 beautiful 10" skyview, but I am wondering how is the resolution of GPS detail/terrain resolution in my country? How often you update the database in my country?

Worldwide terrain resolution is 3 arc-sec, which is extremely high resolution compared to most other solutions. See http://dynonavionics.com/downloads/DynonDesignNote01.pdf from a past newsletter for some detailed background. Terrain data has actually never been updated, because the earth doesn't change that much as far as pilots care (I suppose volcanic eruptions can remove pieces of mountains).

Very glad to know this detail about Dynon, since I prob the first one use skyview here.

Regarding map database update, which I didn't mean terrain change, I am focusing on airspace and airport info updates. Is skyview have your own free VFR charts or we must use 3rd party, eg. Jeppsen. Please advise. Thanks for your time again.

Hi,

I mean "SV-MAP-270", is this module has Taiwan database? Especially for airport frequency, etc.

So a few things: the SV-MAP-270 is the product that enables the navigation mapping software at all. Without it, you can only display terrain (after the map trial period expires).

As for the aviation data: Our free data is only available for the US. For other regions of the world, Jeppesen and PocketFMS provide data. You should contact each of them directly to determine how complete their aviation and obstacle databases are for your particular location.

Hi TRCsmith,

I live in our capital, Taipei. But my plane will be parked near by RCYU airport. Today I already confirmed my S19 order with RANS dealer, and for sure I will go for Skyview.
