In my FD CTLSi, the nice lady who gives me audible message alerts was saying "message" repeatedly during yesterday's flight, even though nothing was obviously wrong. I get the "B/U Battery Test Needed" message on start-up, but normal acknowledgement at that time usually doesn't result in further warnings - until the next start-up.

Why was she nagging me? Is it related to not having done the B/U battery test?

It's possible you have a "contact" input on the EMS that has a disconnected or broken wire and thus has a floating voltage or is occasionally grounding out somewhere. This can produce a brief fleeting "contact" or not, due to vibration and movement of the wire, and trigger the aural warning but the actual contact disappears prior to you noticing it. The aural "Message" audio file will run to completion regardless of whether or not the input that triggered it is still present. The input could last 50 milliseconds and be gone long before your eyes catch it on the screen - but the aural "Message" will still play through the headset.

You can pull your user data from the Skyview and parse through the EMS contact status and see what is triggering the message alert and then start chasing the culprit.

Or you could just look in the Alert Log.
