Skyview Touch System Freeze

Just finishing the installation of Skyview Touch in a new Carbon Cub. I have about 3 hours on the system with normal operations but today I experienced two instances where the system froze unresponsive to input. First time was on the ground working with EMS configuration. Second time was in the air with full screen MAP mode. In both cases power cycling SV brought the system back up.

System up to date with Skyview 10.1. Any ideas on troubleshooting?

So first - we definitely take reports like this extremely seriously. How long was it "frozen" each time before you cycled power? Do you have a backup battery? If the SkyView display has been on under an hour or so since the event, exporting the Dynon Diagnostic file under SETUP MENU > SYSTEM SOFTWARE > EXPORT DYNON DIAGNOSTIC FILE to a USB stick (it's big, you'll need about a half gigabyte) and sending it to us via http://dynonavionics.com/docs/upload.html . Include a link to this forum thread in the "message" area. If it's been longer than an hour, the event won't be there anymore. But please give us a call at 425-402-0433 - we want to learn more about what you've experienced.

Thanks for your response. Made two flights today. No freezes, so I probably lost the chance to get the diagnostic file.

With both freezes yesterday I would guess I gave it about a minute before I power cycled the system. Once it was clear the system was not responsive to inputs I power cycled.

My system includes the backup battery, COM, transponder, ADSB and EMS, all Dynon.

I will download the diagnostic file the next time it happens.

Update on this issue. Got an RMA to return my Skyview Touch panel to Dynon but have elected to continue to fly the current panel so that I can get a diagnostic dump of the event.

Infrequent nature of the system freeze suggests to me a software bug versus a hardware fault.

So far the panel has been operating normally over several flights.

Update on this issue. After applying 11.0 last Summer I did not see any more system freezes so I did not return the unit using the RMA. Aircraft was out of service most of the Winter.

Just applied 12.2. I have made 4 flights total duration around 2 hours flying time on 12.2. On the 4th flight today after about 25 minutes Skyview did a system reboot. At the time of the reboot aircraft was straight and level and there was not any interaction with the buttons. Skyview finally restarted after a longer than usual reboot. Since I was very close to the airport I landed and was able to get a diagnostic file within 30 minutes of flight time. I uploaded the diagnostic file to Dynon with the following name.

2015-05-10-N382RA-SN21083-12.2.0.2950-N382RA-DIAGNOSTIC_DATA.zip

Will call support tomorrow to discuss next steps.
