I'm new to the Skyview product and apologize if I asked questions that have already been asked a thousand times or if it is plain stupid!
I'm a non-US customer from South Africa.
ALL MY QUESTIONS ARE REGARDING SOFTWARE.
As I understand it, the following software is available from Dynon:
1. Firmware:
- I'm updated on the firmware - 15.4.7 - all good there!!!
2. High/Low/Very Low RES Terrain database:
- The last update shows:
HI RES, CREATED 2014-08-26: SOUTHERN AFRICA
LOW RES, CREATED 2014-08-26: WORLDWIDE
VERY LOW RES, CREATED 2014-08-26: WORLDWIDE
- I suppose these files are up to date?
- Does the Skyview use the terrain data or the basemap data for the synthetic vision to work......mountains etc?
3. Basemap Database:
- The last update date shows:
BASE MAP CREATED ON 05/08/13; NORTH AMERICA - is this right?.......i'm in Southern Africa?
STADIUM TFR, CREATED 2015-02-09 - I don't have any idea what this is?
4. Nav and Obstacle Database:
I understand that I must get these from either Jeppeson or Pocket FMS?
Which one of these 2 will be the best for Southern Africa?? (VFR Pilot)
Does this databases play any part in the workings of the synthetic vision?
Cost of each for single update??
