SkyView Transponder Update

All,

We are aware of some reports of the most recent transponder update seeming to stall at 99%. If you experience this, let the system sit for a brief period of time and it may complete itself. If you see this update percentage stall and you give the update ample time (~10 minutes or so) to complete and the status has not changed, it is OK to either pull the transponder breaker and re-set and then reboot the system, or you can press and hold buttons 1, 2, and 5 together on your SkyView screen to manually reboot the system. Once it reboots, the transponder status at the top of the screen should be normal. You can then verify that the update completed by going to SETUP > TRANSPONDER SETUP > and look to make sure it shows being on version 2.15.

This behavior is not affecting everyone, but it does appear to be randomly doing it at the end of the update for some.

these are the steps aI've done andthe result:
Steps performed:

  • Updated both HDX displays to SkyView v17.3 (both powered on, aircraft battery supply).
  • Update completed successfully.
  • Started transponder software update with both displays on.
  • Upload reached 99% and stayed there for 30+ minutes.
  • Powered both displays off manually.
After restart – Master Display:

  • After boot → “Stay On / Power Off” prompt appears.
  • If no choice made → shuts down after 30 seconds.
  • Later shutdown only possible via button #1.
  • No shutdown menu appears → unit switches to backup battery and remains powered.

After restart – Second Display :

  • Startup test text appears normally.
  • At the point where the color screen should load → display shuts off automatically.
  • so, no second screen - it stays black.

No success with my newish HDX. I waited 10 mis after it hung up at 99% complete. Pressed buttons 1,2 and 5 all together , rebooted and no Txp indications on top of screen. When went to Transponder setup said STATUS Not found, Transponder offline. See attach below. I tried the 1,2 ,5 reset twice, same finding suggesting my Txp not working. Can anyone help with a fix ? JeffR

No success with my newish HDX. I waited 10 mis after it hung up at 99% complete. Pressed buttons 1,2 and 5 all together , rebooted and no Txp indications on top of screen. Well,after returning to plane and applying power to HDX, the next day,it appears that the Txp did load up after all and the Txp Ver 2.15 was installed. The Txp functioned as previously with ADSB out etc functioning to allow other aircraft to see me as well as ATC .I don't know why the hiccough!!!!

It is possible to go backwards in software with the system. The transponder is a bit more difficult to do so, normally that's something that has to be done by our repair department.

Thank you for your reply. We've managed to find the source of a transponder snag that we thought might have been the update but, turns out, it was a wiring mistake and nothing to do with new software. Transponder working just fine with the new software :)

My situation: Dual HDX / ACM. Transponder hung after update. What I found is that just rebooting (1, 2, 5 reset) the HDX screens didn't fix the problem.

What did fix the problem was shutting off the battery master switch and insuring all systems were powered down before turning on the battery master and allowing all systems to boot up as normal. Pretty much what @Blimpguy called out.
