We're thinking that the update timing is a coincidence. It really sounds like a hardware problem. Give us a call at 425-402-0433 or an email to support at dynonavionics dot com to set up an RMA.

I just reinstalled my panel back in to my plane. I had it in then out again to get at some other stuff. While I had it out I updated the Skyview software to 1.5 on my bench. After I reinstalled it in the plane, it found all the modules and promptly did a software update to the modules. Now that is attention to detail.

Keep up the excellent work Dynon.

Thanks mmarien. We've learned a lot about updating units and how to best upset customers (have an update process that when it rarely fails requires that the unit be sent back for repair). One of the architectural differences is SkyView is that it's much less susceptible to update failures (some of us WOULD say they're insusceptible, but if we said that, Murphy's Law would strike), The screens can also update any of the modules whenever it sees them, so screens can be updated whereever, whenever, and then the modules get their latest firmware when they're next detected.

Finally, even if yo do manage to complete fail a unit during an update, we have special USB sticks that can "re-image" all but actually electrically broken units and bring them back to life.
