Some AutoPilot Feedback

On a recent flight, i found myself fighting the AutoPilot, again. It seems to be a common occurrence with me. Using Expert mode.

I think one thing to make things easier is to make it more obvious that the AP servos are actually engaged. I will often think the servos are engaged only to watch the plane dive or climb. I usually swear, "What the hell is it doing?" once again. Right now, i believe enagaged is indicated by color. Thus the ROLL mode or ALT mode is black (disengaged) or green (engaged)? Is that right? Is there a more obvious indicator? or one that could be created to make it more obvious?!?!

Thanks,
Jae

Engaged is not indicated by color at all. Engaged is indicated by the presence of "AP" at the top center of the screen, as well as arrows pointing to the left and right for ROLL and PITCH axis respectively.

Are you using the simplified or advanced autopilot? In the advanced AP, the flight director bars fill in when the AP is engaged on top of the FD being active.

Also, do you have the AP audio connected and turned on? It says "AUTOPILOT MODE" when you engage and "AUTOPILOT DISENGAGE" anytime it turns off.

Sorry, i'll update post. I am only using Expert mode.

OK, after reviewing some screenshots, i can see the indicator is just the <| AP |> in green text!!! When not engaged, the text is missing. The flight director is another obvious indicator. Also, the audio. Got it, seems so obvious now! :-?

Sometimes in the heat of battle, some things aren't as obvious as at home, and we can't just pull out the manual!!! :D

Thanks

As a note, in expert mode, you can have AP in green if only one of two servos is engaged. In this case, you'll only have a green arrow pointing to the axis that is engaged. So make sure to keep an out for the arrows and the FD bar being filled in when using the expert AP mode.
