Dynon says in the new HDX Users Guide that one can set up a Dynon HDX screen to act only as an engine display. It say go to the Installation Guide for instructions on how to do this. I have spent considerable time searching for how to implement the settings such that one of my two HDX displays shows only engine information. If anyone can point me to the references, I'd be eternally grateful.

Yeah, it's the User Guide, Chapter 3, not the installation manual. Maybe in the IG as well, but unnecessary to look there.

Just press the "DISPLAY" button on the bottom, hit "SETUP", then set the screen to have the primary content be "ENGINE". Then hit the "back" button and press "FULL". Done.

Then in the SETUP for the 100% engine screen, set the layout of all the engine parameters to be whatever you want.

To further clear some of the confusion, the reference of the new stand-alone EMS display is talking about a setup for a customer who has an HDX screen and only an EMS module to use it simply for that function. In that hardware configuration, it requires a separate unique configuration file to be loaded to lock out most of the menus used for a normal system. For everyone else, it is not any different for users who have a complete system with ADAHRS, GPS, transponder, com radio, etc..

Is the “separate unique configuration file” available now ? I’ll be soon using a HDX as a standalone EMS only.
What is involved then, files?, if we want to go back to a ‘standard’ HDX setup ?
