Starting up Skyview

Is it OK to have Skyview up and running before starting my engine?
A few times I have had it running and started the engine and it rebooted, I'm suspicious that the battery was low.

Thanks

I rely on the EMS info (specifically oil pressure) for engine start. What you need is a backup battery attached to the screen. You are right.. there is not enough power to keep it running. You should just keep it off than turned on versus having it reboot at engine start. At least until you get the battery attached. You are blind to whaat is happening to the engine while everything boots up.. you dont want that.

Sure is, they were designed to handle the voltage 'spikes' during start whether a backup battery is fitted or low on voltage or not fitted at all.

As everyone says, all Dynon equipment is designed to be on during engine start.

SkyView will reboot if the voltage gets down to 6V. Depending on your starter, electrical system, temperature, and health of your aircraft battery, this may happen on engine start. It doesn't happen for sure. Our airplane generally doesn't reboot the screen that doesn't have a battery when we start the engine.
