Hi guys

I recieved my AOA pitot the other day, and was surprised to see it doesn't have a static line. I would have thought that it would have been a standard feature of a hi-tec pitot (such as one that measures AOA)... Any comments?

My aeroplane as it stands doesn't have a static port and I was wondering if it would be possible to modify to AOA pitot to supply a static line (I have access to all required machinery)

Hi Etienne,

Our AOA pitot only has ports for pitot and AOA. It does not have a static port, nor can it be modified in the field to measure static without a high probability of damage.

I'm building a Dyke Delta, and just bought the AOA/Pitot tube from an RV builder that decided to go with a certified system (go figure).

The RV's and several other planes have the ability to put static ports on the sides of the plane. No such luck with the Delta. There aren't any convenient flat surfaces flowing with the wind, except maybe the tip of the tail (maybe). The question I have is would it be possible to tap the mounting structure for static. Where along the streamline tube could a hole be placed on each side to get accurate static.
