Hi,

I am tracking down leaks in the static system prior to ifr cert. I note that when I apply a slight suction to get the system to read 1000 feet altitude, I also see 150 knot airspeed. Since static and pitot are not connected to each other, this is confusing. Is this normal?

Thanks

Thats totally normal, the system uses static to correct airspeed as altitude changes.

Do not forget to put the system into test mode if you are doing pitot and/or static testing to prevent a GPS Assist attitude error. The error will clear on it's own with normal flight but you would need very good VFR weather and even then it will be disconcerting to some. Test mode prevents it altogether.
