I was reading in the AOPA Pilot today that a stick shaker is even more valuable than an AOA indicator because it gets your attention if you get distracted. Stick shakers are very rare in the GA circles we live in but it seems like Skyview has all the information necessary (AOA or airspeed info as appropriate) and, I think, the means (autopilot motors). Probably couldn't be a very strong shake because of the strength of the motor and the way it connects that lets  it be overridden fairly easily but might be worth looking at.

Thanks, I'd seen that before. It seems like though, since Skyview already has everything needed, all it takes is some additional SW in the unit we already have. Wouldn't take any HW mods at all. Just not sure whether the autopilot motor is up to the task.

I haven't read the AOPA article, but pilots here actually like the progressive audible alert that our products can provide much more than the display. We all scan our instruments on appproach, of course, while alternating checking the sight picture. But while you're rounding out / flaring, hearing the geiger counter-like progressive AOA alert gives you instant context about the AOA state of the airplane. And unlike a stick-shaker, you don't need to wait until you're in the danger zone to start providing some guidance/feedback.

Yeah, that's a good point. I'm waiting for cooler weather here in Florida before I put in my AOA so I haven't flown with it yet but I can imagine a progressive audible alert being pretty useful.

I used to manufacture a glareshield mounted AoA indicator for the D1x systems. It was popular, but I found that it was not the best way to indicate AoA for the average VFR pilot. Because it was not foolproof, I chose to discontinue it in favor of Dynon's progressive audio indication.

Still not satisfied, I developed the haptic stick shaker. This is an alternative or adjunct to the audio indication that works better in some circumstances.
