SV altitude encoder data

Hallo, Dynon.
I have SkyView connected with the Garmin GTX328 transponder. SV gives altitude information to the transponder.
I noticed that the information displayed on the transponder are 200 feet lower than the actual altitude. So, if for instance I am flying at 4.500 feet, transponder says FL43.
How can this happen? Isn't encoded altitude the same of dispalyed altitude?
Thanks.

The transponder displays pressure altitude and Skyview shows density altitude. Set the BARO to 29.92 and the altitude shown on Skyview will be the same as the transponder.

Do you need Flight Levels displayed, maybe Pressure Alt would be better ? This can be changed in the Gtx menu ;)

Thanks.
I tried to change the baro setting while flying, but this seems of no effect on FL shown on transponder.

Did you mean that SV sends to the transponder pressure altitude while displays altitude and density altitude?

You are correct.

The altitude shown sent to the transponder is pressure altitude. What is displayed on SkyView is indicated altitude, which assumes you set the correct barometric pressure. Changing the barometric pressure setting will have no effect on the pressure altitude sent to the transponder.

Setting your barometric pressure on the SkyView to 29.92 will cause the SkyView display to show pressure altitude, and it should then match, by definition, what is shown on your transponder.
