SV-COM Setup issues

I am now adding an SV-COM to the mix. However, i have run into some issues. Network status is fine. It says NoDB initially, then dots (thinking), then its good. I can actually tune with APT->COM etc and it does change the standby freq.

1. However, none of the knobs or buttons on the panel do anything. The only knob that works is the Volume knob. In the status page, i can see it reflect volume changes. Pressing it does nothing. It should turn radio on/off but nothing changes.

The frequency knobs do nothing either. big knob nothing. small knob nothing. Pressing the knob does nothing. It should flip flop freqs but nothing. None of the other buttons do anything.

Any explanation or ideas for me? It's def not the network DB9's. Could it be one of the data rx or tx wires on the DB15?

2. Thus, frequency is fixed on 136.50. Cant change it because of the above. Fine. Let's see if the radio works. Transmit seems to be fine. Receive is garbled badly. Darn.

I notice on the COM status page, it says frequency strength is 27%? Is that good or bad i wonder?

Looking or suggestions on what to look at. Hope to try more debugging over the weekend.

3. Realize, i should try swapping antennas to see if that does anything. That will tell me if its an antenna issue maybe.

4. May be able to borrow a friend's com panel. Just to rule out that its a hardware defect. Doubt it like i said since its brand new.

Thanks!

1) That sounds like either an issue with the panel, or possibly with the communications between the panel and the transceiver module. I'll need to check with our engineers next week. So yes, do check the data lines on the DB15. But agreed that it wouldn't be the SkyView Network (DB9) cable. If it's working at all, it's working.
2/3) Assuming it's a signal you'd expect to receive clearly, yes, the antenna and coax are a good first place to start. When did you purchase your radio?
4) That a great idea and can help you figure out whether you've got a data line problem quicker than checking all of the DB25 wires.

Yeah I confirmed it was a bad panel. Swapped with friends unit which worked the way it should. I will exchange the bad unit. Strangely, the garbled reception was fixed when swapping the panel unit too. Seems strange.

Unit is working well with friends panel. Surprisingly sounds clearer than the SL30 unit. Nice surprise.
