SV Hardware-Software Functionality

I'm wondering what the best way is to find out what SV functionality is available for a given HW and SW combination.

I purchased my SV1000 in August of 2013 and after bench testing last winter, have now gotten around to installing it in the airplane. As part of the process, I have also done the SW upgrade to SkyView 11.1 US. I still have a few bugs with the upgrade (really really long boot times, or not at all) that I am trying work out, but was wondering what functionality will, and will not, be available with my SV1000 HW and release 11.1? For instance, my interpretation of the information in the User's Guide is that my HW will not support the six-pack screen. Is there a document or table that specifically addresses available functionality for a given HW-SW combination?

Thanks,
Jerry

There are only two divisions of SkyView hardware. Screens before mid-2013 cannot do video in. That's it. Every other feature is in every SkyView. Based on your purchase date you might have either, but you likely have the latest version.

11.1 should work fine on any SkyView screen. If you're having issues like slow booting, there is a unique issue with your hardware, so you should probably contact support directly so we can get it working right.

All SkyView functionality and software features are available for all SkyViews displays, with one exception. The new video adapter can only work with newer SkyView displays (see the serial number ranges http://dynonavionics.com/docs/SkyView_Video-Input.html.) We have worked hard to keep software backwards compatible.

You can see a lits of newer SkyView features here: http://dynonavionics.com/docs/news_technology_preview.html

And a list of all SkyView features here: http://dynonavionics.com/docs/SkyView_Features.html

Jerry:

Likely you're looking at the manuals that shipped with your SkyView display. Those go out of date every time Dynon updates SkyView software and you install that update; new features are added which aren't in the previous manual (which is why we no longer print and ship SkyView manuals). So, just download the current manuals that are released concurrently with each new major version of software, and you have up-to-date documentation.

I just realized I have an older Skyview that isn't compatible with the video adapter (Serial #2318). If I send my unit back for the touch screen update, will that also make it compatible with the video adapter?

Thanks.

Geoff,
Yes, an upgrade to touch also brings all the hardware up to the latest revision and will support video in.

And those upgrades are going to start real soon, right? :)

Annual condition inspection is coming up in just a month...would be a perfect time to upgrade (hint hint!) :)
