SV-KNOB-PANEL skips/jumps Altitudes

Has anyone had an issue with the SV-KNOB-PANEL skipping altitudes when turning the ALT knob? I'm assuming the faster you turn the knob, the altitude preselect will slew faster. However, even when I adjust the ALT knob purposely slowly (one click per second let's say), the altitude will change 1500, 1600, 1700, then jump to some random altitude like 3800. trying to turn it back will result in the same thing 3700, 3600, -500!

This doesn't happen EVERY time, but it seems to be happening more often. It's a bit cumbersome to deal with while flying in and below Class B. Even setting an initial altitude during runup on the ground may take 6-7 back and forths to try to get the right altitude set.

Jeff,
We've had a few reports of this and found a software issue. It will be fixed in the next software release.

Hmm, I was actually hoping you'd say I had a bad panel and I could send it in for a quick fix. I'll wait patiently for the next release.

Everything is running great otherwise...two thumbs up. Thanks for the quick response.

IS this related to the fix for the CRS bug? Sounds similar.

If so then the fix should be fine, the Alpha & Beta test software for the next version have not displayed any jumps so far………fingers crossed. ;)

This fix improves the "debouncing" behavior when knobs are turned, but I think the issue you're referring too affected course when it's driving an external NAV radio's course, is that right? If it is, it's not too likely (but not impossible) that this fix would affect that behavior.

So when can we, approximately, expect the next software release?
Weeks, months or quarters?  Please give us a clue.

Thank you in advance. :)

As our software downloads page says, we release software 2-4 times a year. 11.0 was released on 8/11/2014, and we're on track. So somewhere between now and March 11th.

Is that enough of a hint? ;)

I'm seeing the same behavior, but I'm also seeing the value jump in the opposite direction. For example, If I turn the heading knob on the knob panel slowly to the right, occasionally the heading bug will jump a large amount to the left.

This only happens with the knob panel, it doesn't happen when using the heading bug on the SkyView display directly.

Is this something that will be fixed as well?

Yes. The bug was that some knobs have more "noise" than others as they wear in, and this causes jumps which can be in either direction, and can be opposite the direction you were intending.

We have improved our handling of rotary encoders throughout SkyView, and our various testers who were having this problem have seen 100% resolution to the issue.
