Sure hope so since I just bought both. Page 12-6 of the installation manual shows how.

The following are the typical Garmin and SkyView configuration settings when this combination of products is used...

Guys,

Yes, A GNS-430W can be connected to the Skyview.  I have two of them connected (I am using the Approach Stack Hub system).

However, at least for now, only the waypoints/data show up on the HSI.  They waypoints/route do NOT show up on the map.

I am sure it is only a matter of time before you can shoot a LPV approach, and have it show up on the map (the way the waypoints/route show up using the Dynon GPS as GPS 0).

The work around - save the routes/approaches using a USB drive, and load.

It is not like I am delaying my IFR rating until this feature is available :)

Hope this helps.  Tim

Ryan,
The GNS 400W Series Installation Manual shows the ARINC-429 connections and they are shown on the same picture for the 400W, 420W and the 430W with the note (430W only) for the VOR items.

You should read that as Garmin 400/500 series units--

400 = Gps only (no NAV, ie VOR info)

420 = Gps plus Com

430 & 430W = Gps + Com +Nav, same goes for 500 series :)

Yeah, we got in the habit of calling everything a 430 and 430w, because 1) that's what most people use and 2) people call the series the "430", even though it's really the GNS series. Model numbering can be hard. We argue about it all the time around here.

Why is it that the Wiki shows connection to the GPS400 through Serial only and not Arinc when it does have the Arinc-429 capability?

You can hook up a GNS via serial only if you just want basic capabilities. If you want NAV data or GPS approaches, you need to connect it via ARINC (which is an optional adapter for both SkyView and the D10 series).

Ok thanks, so Arinc is supported for the Garmin GPS400 when using the adapter. Maybe the Wiki should should be updated to reflect that?
