All,
I'm about to pull the trigger on ADS-B out. I currently have a Skyview system (SV-GPS-250 puck and the SV-ADSB-470 module to get weather) with Garmin 430W and GTX327 transponder using a Bob Archer antenna mounted in the tail of my Sportsman. Reading the most recent installation manual on the SV-XPNDR-261, I have a few questions:
First, the GPS data will be connected from the 430W directly to pin 3 of the -261 unit, with the resistor, but the words in the manual suggest that the 430W must have the most recent software update. What happens if that is not the case. I use the 430W pretty much just for a comm radio and a back-up GPS (it is installed incase I get an IFR ticket in the future). I have not spent the money to keep the database updated, but the unit was repaired (bad NAV knob) and at that time was updated to the most current software and database (2014).
Second, I assume I'll need to purchase the 15' network cable and a BNC-TNC adapter to plug in the antenna cable I now have installed in the plane.
Last, am I missing anything else?
Thanks for the help!
Looking forward to seeing traffic displayed soon!
