On flight today, the SV-1000 screen froze as I was accessing MAP/INFO. All buttons and functions were unresponsive. Could not shut down or reboot screen. I have log file available for review.

Am interested in cause and solution. Would also like to know what options, if any, are available to restart system. This has given me some pause about system reliability. I do have a SV700 for back-up however in an IFR environment this event would be quite disconcerting.

John,
Sorry to hear about that, and we will be very interested to look at your log file. Please upload it here:

How long was it unresponsive for and how did you eventually turn it off?

As for rebooting, Page 3-6 of the user guide says:

How to Reboot the Display
Press and hold buttons 1, 2 and 5 simultaneously to instantly reboot the system. This may be
helpful if you need to cycle power after changing certain settings and for general troubleshooting.

This is a hardware reboot with no software involved, so it will work anytime.

Good thing it happened while VFR. Now it gives you chance to figure out what you'll do when it happens in IFR. Nothing works perfect all the time That's why I have backup systems for IFR on mine. Safe flying. ;)

Just wondering.  I have a single screen SV-1000 in an RV-8 and just loaded V14.  Flight went great.  System worked in all functions.  I had the ILS approach chart up for the airport and exercised the GA mode for grins, then disengaged the AP and landed from a pattern.  Taxing in with the charts screen still up, I noticed the last button menu said "CLOSE"  Having flown the Airbus and not knowing what it did I pushed it and  the map screen went black (no red X) and the entire display screen froze.  The PDF and ENG screens froze and the MAP screen was blank with a white border around it. None of the controls or buttons worked.  I would have gotten a screen shot but the 7 button did nothing.  I think I pushed the 1-3-5 combo and was convinced it didn't do anything and was getting my cell phone to snap a picture when after about 10 seconds the display suddenly blinked and started working and all functions were normal.  Map screen was back in Sectionals.   I couldn't find the reference to the "CLOSE" function in the user manual.  Can anyone tell me where it is located or what it is supposed to do.

Edward,
First, 1-3-5 didn't work because it's 1-2-5 ;) If you had pressed that it would have rebooted instantly.

Page 7-61 describes the behavior of CLOSE:

Returning to the Map View
To close the chart and return to the map, you can either:
[ch61623] Press MAP MENU > CLOSE, and then EXIT.
[ch61623] Press (click) and hold the joystick knob for a second.

So this should close the approach chart and go back to the map view.

If you haven't flown for more than an hour since, we'd love to have you pull a diagnostic log and send it to us so we can see what caused the delay.
