Switching Serial Line

I have a D-100, D-120, SL-30 and 396 GPS.  According to the installation instructions, the connections between the SL-30 and GPS to their respective screens is to be unhooked to update the software.

Assuming that I've read the manual correctly  :) , is it acceptable to wire these each of these connections through a switch to keep from having to unplug wires to update?  I'm thinking of panel mounting a DP switch to accomodate this.

Thanks

Paul

Yep. You just don't want other serial devices, even if unpowered, electrically connected to the Dynons while they are updating. It's an admittedly rare problem, and most devices don't cause issues, but we have seen interference before.

Generally, only the serial device connected to the device you are updating at that moment ought to be disconnected.
