SYSEVENT 21, 5

I have a Skyview touch with about 1800 hours on it. In the past 7 hours I have had it shut down and reboot twice. The first time was in flight about 5 minutes after takeoff, the second time it was right after, (1 minute), starting. The screen goes black and within 1 minute is back looking normal. The message in the bottom right is “SYSEVENT 21: SEE SETUP, SYSTEM EVENT 5: SEE SETUP”

What does setup say? When was your last update? Have you checked all connections? Have you checked power/battery levels? Have you checked the logs?

Have you contacted Dynon?

I too have HDX with 500 hours on it. updated to 17_4_0_0 on December 2, 2025. Flight 12/10/25 no problems. Flight 12/19/25, I got a black screen about an hour into the flight. Held the #1 button until it rebooted. It was not a battery issue. Got the message SYSEVENT: SEE SETUP. Sent the diagnostics file to Dynon, but have not yet heard back from them.

Dynon was quick to get back to me. The issue is a known problem. Issue 5 requires the screen to be sent in and they will fix it out of warranty, issue 21 will be addressed in the next update. I am still flying mine for another 2 weeks when I will be down for some routine maintenance then sending it in. It isn’t a safety of flight issue for me since it reboots immediately and I have backup in the cockpit.
